Geeked!

Geeked, I tell you! I am so excited about the movie version of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy coming out in April. As most of you know, I've been a big fan of Douglas Adams. So I will be first in line to see this movie. I have high expectations, though, that I know will not be met. For instance, of the pictures I've seen, Zaphod (Sam Rockwell - should be good) only has one head. And the casting they did for Ford Prefect DOES NOT match my mental image. But I do like Mos Def as an actor, so it may work out alright.

What they DID get right is Alan Rickman as the voice of Marvin (poor Willow - Warwick Davis - is playing his body), and Bill Nighy as Slartibartfast. Douglas Adams himself as the voice of The Guide would have been just perfect. And John Malcovich is "Humma Kavula", which character, I confess, I can't recall. And I thought I had memorized the whole damned book. I'm very disappointed in myself.

Seems a lot of "big name" actors wanted to get on board with this, though, for which I'm glad. Calvin thought the book was dumb (what I read to him, and what I forced him to listen to on CD), but he always thinks the movie version of books is better than the books themselves, so perhaps I'll make a HHGttG fan of him yet.

And now I'm going to copy this whole thing and put it in the journal entry I'm writing right now. I'm THAT passionate about this.
