I can tell you that my ex-husband was the same way - he always made me feel like I was lazy because I was sitting around reading. Now he has my son thinking the same thing about me - isn't that nice?
Yep, my Ex did the same thing. I made sure I picked a Reader (totally because of the fits the Ex used to have) this time 'round, but I don't have any advice to give - it's not something that's fixable. It's the most annoying thing ever, really. (And to be fair, they probably feel the same way.) Good luck, hon!
I live with an avid reader and when he's lost in a book his attention is obviously elsewhere. Like a child, Calvin is simply jealous of the fact that you're not paying enough attention to him and the comments are akin to tugging at your skirt hem. As reading is so fundamentally part of the person you are, his attitude & comments are unfair and you need to make him realise this. Getting him to read your journal entry is a good place to start working this out.

My husband is EXACTLY the same way! I've resorted to doing my reading in the bathroom. It's the only time I get alone time.
