An update and a break
We're headed to the coast tomorrow morning for some MUCH needed R&R. I'm leaving work a bit early because we're going to the Phil Collins concert tonight. An excellent way to start our vacation off right, if you ask me.
True to what I figured, the slump Calvin and I were in didn't last, and we're on the rising curve of an upswing. Which is a distinct relief, and now I can truly settle in and relax and enjoy myself and NOT THINK ABOUT A DAMNED THING.
So! Just a few more hours of tedium (and I do mean TEDIUM), followed by some errands (oil change in the truck, get it washed, get the lugs on the wheels tightened, run by the mall real quick), and then it's beer o'clock.
Speaking of which, one of the things my therapist *thought* was a revelation (to which I responded with, "Yes, and...?") is that pretty much every member of my childhood family (mother, father, sister, uncle) is/was an undiagnosed alcoholic. So now every time I crack open a beer, I proclaim, "I drink beer! It's a family tradition!"
I don't believe that just because practically my whole family was/is an alcoholic automatically means that I will become one (I wasn't, after all, really exposed to their alcoholism while I was growing up), so I refuse to become paranoid every time I have a drink. Instead, I poke fun, because that is my way.
At any rate! There will be some radio silence while I'm away... take care and stay out of trouble while I'm gone. That means YOU, buster.
