A Tomato Soup Day
I'm just now sitting down for the first time this morning, after doing a bunch of housework and putting a chicken dish together for the crock pot. I *just* put the comforter, freshly washed, back on the bed... and true to his nature, Oz has already burrowed his way underneath it. I can see it moving around as he gives himself a bath.
Calvin's working - third weekend in a row, and he has to work next weekend, too. So from now through the end of the holidays, I told him that I would take care of all the housework so he could just enjoy the one day of rest he gets. We typically split it up, but even with just me doing it, it only takes two or three hours to get the whole thing done. Cleaning the house is certainly low down on the list of my favorite things to do, but I love the nesty feeling it gives me when everything is done.
It's a tomato soup kind of day. The wind is blowing fiercely outside, and the temperature has dropped from the low 80's yesterday, to the low 60's today. Sweater weather - finally! Though I distinctly remember running around in short sleeves in Maine as soon as the weather hit 55.
So! I'm sitting here with my tomato soup and Town House crackers, getting some recipes together to write an entry about my Grandma's cooking. I've prepared a few of her recipes over the past week, and it struck me that it would be a good way to satisfy my collab obligations to Word Goddess and On Display if I did 'em up in an entry.
I miss my Grammy.
Hey, how many of you have started your Christmas shopping? I know what I'm going to get everyone, and I've already made my first purchase to Amazon. I shopped with a co-worker yesterday and bought some garlands for an idea I have for the tree this year. And I brought out the holly/pointsettia (sp?) centerpiece from the garage and put it on the table. The first "official" decoration of the season.
I thought I would be cooking Thanksgiving dinner for our little family this year, but it turns out that everyone is going to The Grandparent's for dinner. So all I have to do is bake a couple of pies! Two hours of cooking as opposed to twelve? I'm all over that! Oh, and on the wonderful news side of things, Lilly called last night to say that she and the baby may be coming home for Thanksgiving. Michael, the poor kid, has duty through the entire Thanksgiving weekend, and she'd end up being all by herself. I really hope she can make it - that would make us all so happy! She's going to run it past Michael and see what he thinks about it.
It'll be so weird, though, not having him home for the holidays. He wasn't home last Thanksgiving, but at least we knew for sure at that time that he'd be home for Christmas. Now he tells us he probably won't be able to make it home for Christmas this year, as well. Which sucks - we miss him horribly.
Hey Michael, if you're reading this, don't re-up! Git yer butt back home! :)

Boogers - The Great Equalizer
I'm experiencing a rare catty moment.
There's this administrative assistant that works here at AcronymCo that thinks she's All That. She's certainly physically attractive, to be sure - and she struts around here like she *knows* it. Honestly, I'm not exaggerating. You watch her walk down the hall and the word "strut" actually comes to mind.
Now, as I mentioned, she could be excused for this because she actually is quite pretty. The problem lies in her personality. Which basically sucks. No one likes to work with her. No one is friends with her. She's cross and bitchy pretty much all the time.
So. I was in the ladies room applying my lip gloss (Hello! I'm fifteen! It's sparkly! I got it from American Eagle Outfitters when I took Marie to get some winter clothes last weekend). This person walks in - I look up and do the polite smile thing, except that she just looked right at me, turned, and walked into a stall. No polite smile. Whatever. I don't like you either, lady.
She closes the stall door, and a second later I hear her horking her nose. Loudly. Repeatedly. Sniffle sniffle.... HORK. She clears her throat. Clears it again. Does that hack thing that guys do when they're trying to get up a good spit wad. And she horks again.
Attractive, in a NOT sort of way.

Like I have the time, but...
26 Things : The Photographic Scavenger Hunt. I'd like to give it a shot. The due date is December 1. It's a neat idea, though.
I owe WordGoddess an entry, too. And On Display (whose link I just realized I don't have bookmarked on my home PC after "The Great Crash"). I don't want to give up either collab membership, they're too cool. I must get my butt in gear.
Which will be even harder when I start school again in January. Woo.

How completely weird
All of the links in my BlogRollling account were overwritten by one single link - "Laura's Blog", and the Laura ain't me. So I had to go in and delete all of the links, which mean's I'll have to re-link to the blogs that I *do* want.
What a pain in the ass. I wonder what happened? Anything like this ever happen to any of you?
