Disappointment of the worst kind.
We got all revved up to watch Must See TV tonight. I worked out right after getting home. Calvin cooked dinner (pork chops! The little thin flat fried nibbly kind!), we were all fed and dressed in comfy clothes and scattered on the couches by 7:00. We turned the TV to NBC.
Ross is singing "Big Butts" to Emma. Hmm. A repeat. So early in the season? Didn't Rachel and Joey *just* kiss?
We scroll over to the next half-hour time slot - Scrubs. What's his face's brother hits on what's her face. Another repeat.
Will and Grace at 8:00. A nauseating guest appearance from Demi Moore. Repeat.
Whoopi on instead of Coupling. I don't think so.
ER - thank GOD, ER is a new episode.
But instead of sitting in front of the TV for three straight hours of comedic bliss, Calvin and Marie are watching "Super Troopers" on HBO, and I've just finished stripping the bedding in Michael and Lilly's room (henceforth referred to as "The Kids'" room, because it's not *really* Michael's room anymore, but it's not a guest room because we can't impersonalize it from who it *used* to belong to).
Phooey. This is SO not how I wanted to spend my Thursday night. Damn NBC. Until 9:00, anyway, when I can get my Luca fix.
Mmm... Luca...

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...
Well, it turns out I didn't have to take the test after all. Once they realized the math credits I'd be transferring, and after I told them I was going to CLEP out of English, they just sent me on to the advisor. All I have left to do is contact my old school, get my transcripts sent over, and sign up for my first classes.
Now I'm munching on Burger King (Chicken Whopper no mayo, side salad with light italian dressing), after having dropped off the film to be developed (FINALLY - look for a picture heavy entry over at ~Snerkology~ soon), and picking up "Matrix - Reloaded", "Holes", and "The Italian Job" at the video store.
Because, you know, we don't watch enough movies.
This weekend Heather, Marie and I are taking our respective dogs to The Mutt Show at Papago Park. Baths are in order for Gadget and Gypsy, the stink beasts. Marie and I are really looking forward to it, even though it means getting up at the ungodly hour of 7:00 a.m. on a Saturday. Calvin just laughed when I told him, and said "Have a good time." He'll probably still be asleep by the time we get back.
Marie and I have been roller blading around the neighborhood in the evenings as of late. Which accounts for the fact that I can't SIT ON MY ASS for more than ten minutes without having to get up and shift positions. It's my upper outer thigh muscles (hip muscles?) that are sore, really, but my ass is feeling sympathy pains or something.
I feel so totally pathetic.
And that's the news!
Back to School
I'm switching colleges (from a business college to a technical college), and I take a placement exam this morning. I always do horridly at placement exams - for example, I have absolutely no retention for math unless I use it on a regular basis. Since AcronymCo helpfully supplies all the software tools to do the calculations I perform in my job, I haven't had to do math by hand in ages.
I'm doomed, surely.
I'm actually rather looking forward to going back to school. My last class was ages ago - right around the time that dear Grammy passed away, and I was too swamped and emotionally overwrought to sign up for new classes. And then, I was lazy. And then, I was too busy. And then... and then... and then.
No more excuses. I've GOT to get this damned degree finished. I'm doing the exact same job (better, even, with more technical issues and more responsibility) than my peers in my department, and yet they are salaried, where as I am still hourly. Just because I don't have a piece of paper. I have the skills, oh yes - more so than many folks. But no degree = no promo.
I can't change the way of things, but I don't have to like it. So! It's off to become an Electrical Engineer I go.
Not exactly what I envisioned doing with my life, but what the hell. It's not like I'm going to change careers at this point.

Man.
I was just looking at the pictures of Michael, Lilly, and the baby, in the last few entries over at ~Snerkology~. I miss them all so much.
~wah~
