Happy Birthday to you!

Sigh.

I promised Lilly another update over at ~Snerkology~. I'm in a writing frame of mind, yet I have no time today to begin an entry. I could write when I get home, but getting in some quality 1:1 time with Calvin tonight is my priority.

Things have been hectic and slow at the same time. Hectic in that work is so dad-blamed busy I barely have time to think. Actually, I have *no* time to think and have just been faking it. There are times that there are three and four people lined up outside my door waiting to talk to me. That happened yesterday, and one of those people was my boss' boss, eyebrows raised at the traffic coming and going to and from my desk. So yes, actually, my overtime IS justified, thankyouverymuch.

Things are slow in that once home, it's the normal routine of dinner, chores, TV, bed. Weekends are quiet due to enforcing our requirement to not spend money. Three years is a good, aggressive goal to get all of our debt paid off. But the next 36 months of enforced idleness is going to be B-O-R-I-N-G.

I guess I'm going to have to dust off my imagination and come up with some no-cost activities that will keep my boyo and my kiddo entertained.

BUT! Lilly is due any second now - due to some physician intervention, she'll probably deliver by the weekend. Which means we have a week-long visit from them to look forward to (they decided it would be better if we just stayed in AZ and let them come to us, instead of us trying to make it there for the delivery). Once they're here, we're throwing a post-baby shower for Lilly.

Marie's 15th birthday is tomorrow, and we have dinner-and-presents plans. Plus the potential to have a house-full of teenagers this weekend.

A co-worker of Calvin's and a co-worker of mine are leaving their positions, which means a couple of happy hours at our house as a send-off. And we still have to figure out what we're doing for Calvin's birthday (I got some kick-ass presents for him) - the timing of the happy hour with our friends, and what we'd like to do with the family.

There's always something going on! And only 99 shopping days 'till Christmas! Oh, shoot me now.

Hey, I just remembered! Today is Snerkology's three year journalversary!!

Smoothie Goodness

The nutritional methodology of my current fitness challenge is to eat five to six small meals per day. Protein smoothies count as a "meal", so this morning after my workout I tried a little experiment. I took a handful of ice cubes, a scoop of vanilla whey protein powder, 6 oz of Yoplait Light Fat Free yogurt (blackberry!), and 8 oz of 2% milk, and put 'em all in the blender.

I was shocked at how good it was. If I replace the 2% milk with skim, it comes in at 295 calories, 2 grams of fat, 33 grams of carbs, and 35 grams of protein.
